Principles for growing Churches

What is the secret to the continued growth of the church? What does it depend on? Church growth is complex, and there is no way to reduce that complexity to a simple formula. But the most growing and healthy churches in the world show 10 specific characteristics that are worth considering. First, they have visionary leadership. Visionary leaders have clear objectives and, therefore, attainable goals. They concentrate all the activities of the church towards the vision, generate enthusiasm and are agents of change who know the needs of the community and the church. Second, they develop ministries according to the existing gifts in their church and evangelize according to specific needs. The Holy Spirit distributes a variety of gifts among church members. The leader must devote himself to helping church members discover and recognize the gifts God has given them and find a place for them to serve accordingly. Third, they express a contagious spirituality. The method of evange

Tercer

Churches that love the city

Nowadays cities are more important than ever. Their relevance lies not only in the growth in size, but also in the growth of their level of influence. The Bible shows that God designed the cities with a purpose. God's future redeemed Universe and World are described in the form of a city. The cultural command given at creation was to build the city. The city is a benefit when it serves humanity as a refuge from the condition in which it has fallen. The challenge, then, is to establish churches that are committed to the different realities of each city. The gospel must be incarnated and communicated in such a way that the neighbors of the city can understand it. Tim Keller mentions that a church committed to the city must have respect for urban sensitivity. The city is full of diversity-loving and anxious people with great tolerance for disorder. These people value adrenaline and accessibility more than comfort and control. They appreciate well-thought and well-argued presenta

Aprecian presentac

Where is your church going?

What moves your church? What is the driving force behind it? Churches moved by tradition have a favorite phrase, which is: "We have always done it like that." The goal is simply to perpetuate the past. Ancient churches tend to be bound by rules, regulations and rituals. Those churches that are motivated by a big personality also have a theme question: “What does the leader want?” If the pastor has served the church for a long time, it is most likely that he is the one who has this leading personality. Its agenda will be based on the background, needs and insecurities of their leader. Churches moved by programs concentrate all their energy in maintaining and sustaining their programs, not focusing on people’s growth but on covering positions. No one ever wonders if the program continues to work. It looks like those churches moved by events cherish keeping people busy as their main goal. As soon as a great event is over, people start working on the next one. There is

Hacia dónde va tu iglesia

¿Qué mueve a tu iglesia?

New churches for new challenges

I was 30 years old, Andrea 26 and our first two children were very young when we were encouraged to move to a new city. We left the security of the beautiful church that sheltered us and a stable job to plant a new church. We were driven by a strong missionary call and the enthusiastic encouragement from some brothers and sisters who supported our dream. There was no predetermined plan, no finances, no teams. We were moved by the conviction of our call and the confidence of God supporting us. We started our first services with some friends at home until we could finally start our first public services. God did the rest.    Today that small community is a mature, active and relevant congregation with established pastors, different teams and resources. These were fifteen years of much learning, but God had new plans for us, and today we are planting a new church in a different city. What moves us to start over? A passionate heart for God and for people, and the vision of brin
